Impera Control Time-based Events
After completing this how-to you will be familiar with the Time-Based Events feature for the Impera Control platform and provided a brief overview of what it is and does.
Introduction
Impera control systems keep the interaction between devices simple. Most events are buttons being pressed on a User Interface. The Feedback section lets you catch messages from connected devices and use them to cause an event. Events can also come from using the GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output).
In cases that require events to happen at a specific time, (for example, powering off a room's devices at the end of the day) Time-based Events are the solution. This functionality is available for new Tango and Apprimo Touch 8i controllers. The control system needs access to an NTP (Network Time Protocol) server to maintain accurate time.
Project Designer 1.36.08
Starting with Project Designer 1.36.08, the scheduling dialog will always be available. To set up a scheduled event, navigate to Feedback and select Timer Events. Click on Add Condition to set the time and day(s) that the event will occur, and select an action from the list to perform when it does.
The actions for Time-Based events are limited to Press Button only, so the sequence you wish to trigger needs to be defined on a button elsewhere in the system.
Fill out the Time Settings to ensure the control system has an NTP server to get the time from, and which timezone it belongs in. Navigate to System and click on the controller. In the Properties pane, scroll to the Time Settings. Select a Timezone and a Time Server to synchronize with.
As long as the control system can synchronize with the time server the events will happen at selected time.
