Step 2A: Booking System Preparation: Microsoft 365 with RBAC
This article covers preparing Microsoft 365 for integration with Evoko Home v2.7.6 or higher after the retirement of EWS Impersonation and the RBAC Application Impersonation in Exchange Online. Click here for how to integrate Google Workspace with Evoko Home.
Notes:
- You can read more about the Retirement of RBAC Application Impersonation in the Microsoft Community Hub.
- Upgrading an existing EvokoHome version to v2.7.6 will not break your current backend connection with M365 but you cannot change authentication details with the Microsoft 365 service account in Evoko Home Global settings without also moving to RBAC. It’s important to follow this guide and prepare your M365 before installing or upgrading to this version of Evoko Home.
Important! We recommend making an appropriate backup/snapshot of the server for Evoko Home before starting the Evoko Home installation and re-authentication part. Doing so gives you the option to revert to the previous configuration if needed.
Process Overview
The steps covered in this article to prepare Microsoft 365 for Evoko Home integration are:
- Step 2A-1. Create a Service Account
- Step 2A-2. Create a Room Resource Account
- Step 2A-3. Application Registration and API Permissions
- Step 2A-4. Application Role-Based Access Control
The Service Account will be used for authentication and carrying the requests between Evoko Home and Microsoft 365 via EWS. We recommend creating a dedicated account for this purpose.
