Windows UC Housekeeping Guide

This article describes what you need to do on a Windows UC in the scenario USB audio is impacted in four simple steps. 

Please always use the latest Biamp software and firmware available from our downloads. 

 

Windows UC Housekeeping should be continuously monitored and managed by the user regardless of make or model of peripheral devices.

 

1. Windows Update and Optional updates. 

A. Go to Windows Update, check for updates / install as needed.

B. Go to Windows Update, Advanced options, Optional updates, check for updates / install as needed.

2. Reinstall USB Host Controller and Root Hub.

A. Go to Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers, expand this.

B. Right click on the Host Controller and Root Hub devices, Uninstall device.

  • Windows will prompt you to restart, and Windows will then reinstall the device again.

3. Disable any audio devices not used. 

A. Go to System, Sound, More sound settings.

B. Select the Playback tab, disable any devices not used,

C. Select the Recording tab, disable any devices not used.

  • Please ensure all HDMI output devices are disabled and the Biamp USB devices are enabled as the Default Communications Device.

4. Restart the Windows UC device ensure the Biamp USB devices are selected. 

A. In this instance using a MTR device; go to settings, peripherals.

B. Select the Biamp USB devices.

C. Save and exit.
