Parlé VBC 2800 Audio Input and ALS
The VBC 2800 conferencing bar can receive audio from USB Audio and Analog Audio. Users toggle which source the bar receives audio from using the Biamp Camera Controller software. This is available via the same port as the ALS assistive listening system output using the included "Y" adapter cable.
Selecting an audio input
Selecting a preferred audio input source is done using Biamp Camera Controller's settings.
USB audio input is the default source, however, a toggle is available to select the analog auxiliary port instead. This audio signal is provided using the 3.5mm TRRS audio jack on the bar. Selecting Auxiliary as the audio source will route the analog audio input signal directly to VBC 2800 speakers.
Note: the microphones will remain active via a USB connection while Auxiliary is selected.
No additional audio level control is available using the Biamp Camera Controller application.
The ALS output is on all the time and mirrors the speaker output of the VBC 2800.
Cabling and Connectivity
Analog output (ALS) is the same as the Parlé VBC 2500a bar. However, the VBC 2800 models add support for a mono unbalanced analog input, accessible through an additional pole on the 3.5mm (1/8th inch) connector which is now TRRS format. User controls available in Biamp Camera Controller for this audio input will include input trim to normalize the analog in level to the USB audio in level.
Single devices (either Audio In or Out) may be plugged in directly to the Audio I/O port without using the Y cable.
Note: The Audio I/O "Y" cable is configured to carry both signals at the same time.
- Plug the Y cable into the Audio I/O port and route the cable through the cable retainer.
- Plug the exterior device cable into the appropriate end of the Y cable.
- If a standard 3.5mm (1/8th inch) connector is used without the "Y" cable, the signal from the bar will be the ALS output only.
Note: "Y" cable is only compatible with VBC 2800 conferencing bars. The VBC 2500a only supports ALS output on a 3.5mm standard connection.
Analog Input Spec
- Designed for –10dBV nominal consumer audio devices with a 2V RMS maximum. This supports a maximum 16dB of headroom.
- Dynamic Range (20Hz to 20kHz): > 100dB
- Input Impedance: > 3kΩ.
- Frequency response 20Hz to 20kHz
- Analog audio is a mono signal duplicated through both speakers. USB signal is stereo.
Wiring Diagrams
Note: Stereo Audio source connection using premade 3.5mm cables will only pass left-side audio to the bar through an adapter. This left channel audio will play through speakers in mono.
