TesiraFORTÉ Fan Replacement

This article will walk you through the process to replace the fan inside of a TesiraFORTÉ unit. Please read this document carefully in its entirety before beginning as there are delicate components inside the TesiraFORTÉ.

Locate the fan

The fan is located at the front of the Chassis for the TesiraFORTÉ, on the left side of the unit if you are looking straight on at the device. Make sure that all cables are disconnected from the unit before you remove the Chassis from the rack, and verify that the device has been powered down.

Open the chassis

Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the three screws shown below from the back of the TesiraFORTÉ chassis.

Lift off the top plate to remove it and set aside.

Remove the front panel

Before you remove the front panel, make note of the 2 ribbon cables on the TesiraFORTÉ. Take extra care to avoid damaging these two cables. If they are damaged, the front panel LED screen may no longer function.

Unplug the white ribbing cable, grip gently and pull straight out of the connector.

Unclasp the front panel brackets and gently slide the front panel forward. Exercise caution to avoid damaging either ribbon cable. Once the front panel is removed, rest it face side down to reduce the change of damaging the cables.

Remove the fan

Now that the fan is exposed, remove the screws holding the fan housing in place. Note that the fan is attached to the main board on the TesiraFORTÉ as well. Disconnect this carefully to avoid damaging the connector on the board.

Remove the screws from the front panel that hold the fan housing in place.

Push firmly at the bottom of the fan and will slide out under the metal lip of the chassis. Ensure that you press on the bottom of the fan housing and not the fan itself.

Remove the fan from its housing by removing the two retainer screws.

Install the new fan

Attach the new fan to the housing using the same screws removed in the previous step.

IMG_1866.jpg

Insert the fan assembly back into the TesiraFORTÉ by hooking the fan underneath the lip of the TesiraFORTÉ frame and push inward on the bottom of the assembly to move it into place. This will require firm pressure but not enough to damage any components.

Replace the front panel

Take note of the two holes in the front plate. These line up with the two ribbon cables attached to the front panel assembly.

Line up the front panel with the plate and press it back into place until the front panel latches are engaged. Use caution to avoid damage to the ribbon cables. If they are bent excessively or pinched, the front panel will likely no longer function.

Reconnect the white ribbon cable to its receiving connector located on the main circuit board. Press straight down and take care to not bend the cable to the point of damage. The amount of pressure needed should be firm and steady, but not excessive to where it will damage the cable.

Close the chassis

Slide the top panel back into place. All metal tabs should be on the inside of the chassis leaving the outside smooth.
