O365: Setting up Bimap Workplace in MS Azure Admin Center

How to set up Biamp workplace in Microsoft Azure Admin Center. This enables communication with Office 365 to sync meeting room resources with calendars.

 

Cautionary notes

  • Make sure the Directory ID, Client ID, and Secret Value are copied accurately . These are essential for connecting Biamp Workplace to M365.
  • Double-check the permissions added to the application to ensure all necessary permissions are granted.

  • Keep the notepad handy to store the copied values for easy reference.

  • Use consistent naming conventions for the application and permissions to maintain clarity.

  • Review the permissions added before granting admin consent to avoid missing any required permissions.

 

Steps in this procedure

Note: the video referse to Evoko workplace, but these steps still apply to Biamp Workplace.

 

1. Register the Application

  • Log into the Microsoft Azure Admin Center as a global administrator.
  • Navigate to the Applications tab in the left-most pane and select the App registrations option under it.
  • Click on New Registration in the ribbon at the top of the newly opened App registrations page, and enter a name for the registration
    • For example: Biamp Workplace with the current date. "Biamp Workplace 24Sep2024".
  • Select the Register button near the bottom of the form. 
  • Copy the generated "Directory ID" (Tenant ID) and "Client ID" (Application ID) to your notepad.
    • Select the notepad icon after that will appear at the end of each of these fields when cursor-hovering over them to copy. 

 

2. Generate a Secret Value

  • Navigate to Certificates and Secrets tab under the Manage column.
  • Select the add New client secret button and enter a description for the secret.
  • Set the expiration period (for example, 6 months) and select the Add button.
  • Copy the generated secret value to your notepad.

 

3. Add API Permissions

  • Select the API permissions tab under the Manage column. 
  • Keep the default "user.read" delegated permission under the Configured permissions section.
  • Select the Add a Permission button and then select the Microsoft Graph card on the new pane.
  • Select the Applications permissions button.
  • Search for or scroll down the following permissions and check the adjacent check box to add it:
    • calendar.readwrite
    • place.read.all
    • user.read.all
    • mailboxsettings.read
  •  After adding these permissions, click on Grant Admin Consent for Your Organization, which is also under the Configured permissions section.

 

By following these steps, you will successfully set up the Evoko Workplace application in the Microsoft Azure Admin Center for seamless communication with Office 365.
