Locations: Location Plans Overview

Location plans are used to generate three types of location floor maps in Biamp Workplace organizations.

  • Map views: Administrative Map views found on the Workplace admin portal's Locations pages. These show the location and statuses of bookable spaces as well as booking and audiovisual devices,

  • Floor Plans: Floor plans are interactive end-user booking and navigation aids. They are viewed from the Workplace screen of the Biamp Workplace Booking app.

  • Overview screens floorplans: These navigation and booking status screens are shown on public display screens. They are created on the admin portal's Overview page using location plans.

Once a floor-type Location plan is created and populated, it can be used for all three of these applications.

Plan description and uses

About plans

Administrative users can create plans for any location type in a Workplace organization. This means plans can be set up for locations at any level, such as building and floors, down to individual meeting rooms and desks. Bookable space locations (rooms, desks, parking spaces) and audiovisual devices can be added to a plan. This makes them visible on maps generated from floor-level plans.

Plans for typically created for floor locations to depict the location of bookable spaces as well as the locations of installed audiovisual and booking system devices.

Plans are created in the Workplace admin portal and require uploading an image file of the physical floor plan to the Workspace Location. This image will be used to map workplace locations and devices to the physical space.

Floor plan types

Location plans are used to generate the following three types of interactive floor plan maps.

Administrative Map views

The locations of audiovisual devices, booking devices, and bookable spaces can be viewed on an intuitive map on the Workplace organization's admin console. Each Location page in the admin portal console has a List view / Map view toggle. Toggling to the Map view brings up the floor plan map, showing any AV devices and bookable spaces assigned to the location plan the map is based on.

How to unlock a map view: Creating and populating a location plan automatically makes the map view available for that Workplace location.

Map monitoring view

When the administrative map view is toggled to Monitoring, the map displays the location and status of devices.

  • Hovering over a device will bring up a status message window. The following images show a working audiovisual device in green and a booking device in red, indicating the latter has at least one logged incident.

Map scheduling view

When toggled to the Scheduling view, the map displays bookable locations color-coded by availability.

  • Green: Available
  • Red: Currently booked
  • Gray: Private and cannot be booked except by the location owner.
    • Private locations are included in the booking management system to make designated private locations visible on map views and other floor plans.

End-users can view interactive floor plans with rooms, desks, and parking spaces on the Booking app's Workplace screen.

    • Tapping the information pane brings up booking options.

Public overview screen floorplan displays

Overview floorplan screens can be shown on public displays at sites where booking systems are deployed.

Overview screens are created in the admin portal, then activated and made visible on public-facing display screens. The floorplan overview screens are based on existing floor Location plans, which are selected for use during the Overview screen creation process.

How to create and make an Overview floorplan screen visible: Manually add overview information to a floor-location plan and assign it to a display screen using tools located under the admin console's Screen tab.
