Crowd Mics release notes

This article provides details of Crowd Mics firmware releases.

 

2.3.14

Release Date: 8/30/2022

New features:

ATOM

  • Added option to power up ATOM by Wake on LAN
  • Added ability to reset ATOM to factory settings by using a USB drive which contains a key file
  • Support Link Local addressing scheme

Fixed issues:

ATOM:

  • Display App: Support Japanese character set
  • Admin Configuration: Audio levels now default to 75%
  • Admin Configuration: Added volume control for HDMI output channel

ATOM

ATOM configuration dashboard updates:

  • Added Gateway and DNS network settings for Static IP addresses.
  • Added ability to Protect ATOM Access with a PIN Code.
  • Added ability to enable Automatic Approval of Microphone Requests.
  • Added ability to Specify Speaker time limit.
  • Added ability to copy updated credentials to clipboard to be pasted and saved in an offline document.

Display App updates:

  • Display App now displays active speaker's name and avatar.

Web Moderator app updates:

  • Updated to include all Moderator App updates (see below section).

Known Issues:

  • When upgrading the ATOM from version 2.2.0.1 on the ATOM Upgrade page using the upgrade package atom_2.3.10-1.deb, the page will need to be manually refreshed after a few minutes to see the updated firmware.

Moderator and Participant Apps

Moderator app updates:

  • ATOM's Friendly Name is now displayed when updated in ATOM web configuration.
  • Added ability to enable Auto-Approve Speak Requests.
  • Added ability to Play Speaker Reminder chime.
  • When enabled, the Protect ATOM Access PIN will be required to edit/start events.

Participant app updates:

  • ATOM's Friendly Name is now displayed when updated in ATOM web configuration.
  • When moderator has enabled Auto-Approve Speak Requests, participants will experience the following:
    • Ability to view their position in queue for speak requests.
    • Sound and/or vibration received on mobile device when it’s their turn to speak (Android only).
    • 10-second timeout countdown to speak will be displayed.
  • Size of push-to-talk area for active speakers to press has been increased.

Crowd Mics Online

Updates:

  • Activation page now includes translations for all 23 supported languages.

  • Improved design of the ATOM configuration pages.
  • Added ability to set language for the Display App.

ATOM

Updates:

  • Removed support for outdated TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1, in alignment with end-of-support for these versions by major browsers. TLS 1.2 is still supported.

Resolved Issues:

  • Fixed issue that could cause local events not to be discovered by Crowd Mics Participant app.

Moderator and Participant Apps

Updates:

  • Android 8.0 and higher is now required to download Participant app from the Google Play store.

Crowd Mics Online

New Features:

  • Added ability to invite users with gTLDs consisting of more than three characters (e.g., "user@company.tech" or "user@company.work").

  • Added support for Crowd Mics Online.
  • Web Moderator App updated to include all new Moderator App features for this release.

Moderator and Participant Apps

New Features:

  • Added ability for Moderator to activate an ATOM for online events, schedule online events for different days and times, and create ad-hoc online events.
  • Added ability for Moderator on a secondary, remote ATOM to join an online event using the event code.
  • Added ability for Moderator to create polls prior to starting an event.
  • Added ability for Participants to join online events in three ways:
    • Via the WiFi of primary ATOM hosting event.
    • Via the WiFi of secondary ATOM connected to event.
    • As a remote user using online event code.

Crowd Mics Online

New Features:

  •  Licensing Management Interface has been created, allowing companies to register for Crowd Mics licensing.
  • Added ability to view order information for purchased licenses.
  • Added ability for company admin to activate/deactivate Crowd Mics devices belonging to company.
  • Added ability for company admin to invite users.
    • Users can view and manage online events that have been scheduled or are currently active on company devices.
    • Users with billing privileges can set up default payment method for company and edit company information.
    • Users with billing privileges can purchase and manage different types of licenses for conducting online events.

ATOM

New Features:

  • Browser-based version of the Moderator application can now be accessed at http://xxxxxx/moderator (where xxxxxx = the ATOM's device domain).
  • Administrators can add a custom logo.
  • Administrators can require a pin code to access Administrator app, Participant app, and/or event.

Resolved Issues:

  • Fixed issue with connectivity loss when participant phones enter low-power "sleep" modes.

Moderator and Participant apps

New Features:

  • Poll results can now be viewed as a pie chart.
  • Poll results now display the total number of votes, as well as the number of votes for each option.
  • Added ability to create poll questions that allow a multi-response from participants.
  • Moderators can now choose to reuse a poll. 
  • Moderators can now select and clear all comments.

Resolved Firmware Issues: 

  • Fixed an issue that could lead to poor audio quality from some mobile devices.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the presenter to receive an "ATOM busy" alert when attempting to allow a participant to speak.

Known Issues:

  • Event SSID is not displayed correctly on some Android devices or in the display application.
