Baseball Field

This system design template describes two different loudspeaker designs for typical high school and small community baseball fields. The first scenario has speakers mounted on the press box behind home plate. The second scenario uses speakers mounted on light poles around the field.

Design Scenario 1: Pressbox

Pressbox

In this design scenario, three (3) loudspeakers are mounted on the top of an 18-foot tall press box. Three options are shown below with coverage for the infield and seating areas. Options B and C will allow for better bass response and higher SPL to increase the field coverage to 160 feet.

Equipment list

Below is the list of loudspeaker and amplifier equipment used in this design:

Option A : Good SPL to the infield and the seating, with good speech articulation.

  • 3 - Community  R.25-94Z          Compact Full-Range Horn-Loaded Two-Way; 100 Hz – 16 kHz, (H x V): 90° x 40°

  • 1 - Community ALC-404D        Amplified Loudspeaker Controller:  4 Channels x 400W + DSP and Dante

Option BEnhanced SPL and pattern control with better bass extension. Coverage extends up to 160 feet.

  • 3 - Community R.5-94Z            Compact Full-Range Horn Loaded Two-Way; 85 Hz – 16 kHz, (H x V): -66 (60° x 60°), -94 (90° x 40°),-99 (90° x 90°)

  • 1 - Community ALC-404D        Amplified Loudspeaker Controller:  4 Channels x 400W + DSP and Dante

Option CAll of the benefits of Options A and B with greater musicality, higher SPL and the ability to address the entire field.

  • 3 - Community R.5-96MAX      12-inch High Output High Performance Coaxial Two-Way;  70 Hz - 20 kHz, (H x V): -66 (60° x 60°), -96 (90° x 60°)

  • 1 - Community ALC-3202D       Amplified Loudspeaker Controller:   2 Channels x 3200W + DSP and Dante

Design Scenario 2: Lighting poles

Lighting Poles

In this design scenario, three (3) loudspeakers are pole mounted at a height of 30 feet, and up to 90 feet away from the press box. Additional matching compact loudspeakers on the press box (not shown) will help reduce artificial echoes. Three options are shown with options 2 and 3 providing additional SPL, pattern control, and bass response.

Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers

Biamp's line of Community Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers (ALC) offers factory-optimized DSP processing, protective limiting and amplification, as well as signal routing, zone switching, and remote monitoring for virtually any Community loudspeaker application.

Standard Ethernet communication protocols allow for fast system design, system control, and remote system monitoring. Analog and Dante® inputs included in each model are assignable per channel in static or failover/backup configuration, supporting quick and easy integration into any new or existing system.

Community-authored loudspeaker presets include equalization, high pass filters, and multi-stage limiters tailored to each model, ensuring consistent sound quality and full loudspeaker protection in every application. Additionally, each Community loudspeaker preset includes loudspeaker power and impedance information, allowing the system configuration software to display the total power and impedance of multiple parallel wired loudspeakers, further reducing the time and effort required to match complete loudspeaker systems with the appropriate ALC models and output channel configurations.

In-depth control and monitoring is accomplished via ArmoníaPlus® system manager software.
