Basketball Gymnasium

This system design template describes two different loudspeaker designs for typical high school gymnasiums. The two scenarios differ mainly in how they cover the court with sound. Scenario 1 uses speakers mounted at a single location above center court. Scenario 2 distributes down-firing speakers throughout the court.

Design Scenario 1: General coverage

General Coverage

This design scenario shows speaker type and placement recommendations for a typical 120-foot by 100-foot gymnasium with a 28-foot height to the low steel (bottom of trusses). The bleachers are up to 14 feet tall. The bleacher loudspeakers are mounted about 20 feet in front of the first row.  Bleachers longer than 70 feet can require four (4) or more loudspeakers per side. The court loudspeakers provide general coverage to the court and floor seating for sporting events.

Design Scenario 2: Enhanced court coverage

Enhanced Court CoverageThis design scenario shows speaker type and placement recommendations for a typical 120-foot by 100-foot gymnasium with a 28-foot height to the low steel (bottom of trusses). The bleachers are up to 14 feet tall. The bleacher loudspeakers are mounted about 20 feet in front of the first row. Bleachers longer than 70 feet can require four (4) or more loudspeakers per side.
The court loudspeakers provide enhanced coverage to the court for higher speech intelligibility and allow more zone control to accommodate multi-purpose events.

Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers

Biamp's line of Community Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers (ALC) offers factory-optimized DSP processing, protective limiting and amplification, as well as signal routing, zone switching, and remote monitoring for virtually any Community loudspeaker application.

Standard Ethernet communication protocols allow for fast system design, system control, and remote system monitoring. Analog and Dante® inputs included in each model are assignable per channel in static or failover/backup configuration, supporting quick and easy integration into any new or existing system.

Community-authored loudspeaker presets include equalization, high pass filters, and multi-stage limiters tailored to each model, ensuring consistent sound quality and full loudspeaker protection in every application. Additionally, each Community loudspeaker preset includes loudspeaker power and impedance information, allowing the system configuration software to display the total power and impedance of multiple parallel wired loudspeakers, further reducing the time and effort required to match complete loudspeaker systems with the appropriate ALC models and output channel configurations.

In-depth control and monitoring is accomplished via ArmoníaPlus® system manager software.
