Local Community Church

This system design template describes a typical loudspeaker system for a smaller local church faced with the need for a modest PA system balanced with the need to improve speech clarity for the congregation without overwhelming the architecture. The system must also often be capable of reinforcing amplified instrumentation.

Room design

This room design is based on a centrally located array with supplemental left and right down fill speakers to cover the front areas. There are three options shown that will cover the power and throw distance needs of multiple spaces. The basic design covers the needs of proper speech intelligibility along with musical reproduction in the space. If the design requires deep bass response needed for live band situations, supplemental subwoofer enhancement recommendations are shown as an optional addition.

A compact, monaural, centrally located array preserves the center focus (listening localization) on the lectern while full-range two-way or three-way loudspeakers provide sufficiently accurate reproduction of musical instruments.

A slightly more sophisticated design might supplement this with “stereo” Left / Right matching loudspeakers for reinforcement of stereo instruments. For deep bass instrumentation a subwoofer can be placed near the platform center, or close to the musicians, to add range for increased low-frequency support.

Note: The twin side fill compact loudspeakers require separate signal processing for delay, gain, and equalization to fully integrate with the main center loudspeaker.

Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers

Biamp's line of Community Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers (ALC) offers factory-optimized DSP processing, protective limiting and amplification, as well as signal routing, zone switching, and remote monitoring for virtually any Community loudspeaker application.

Standard Ethernet communication protocols allow for fast system design, system control, and remote system monitoring. Analog and Dante® inputs included in each model are assignable per channel in static or failover/backup configuration, supporting quick and easy integration into any new or existing system.

Community-authored loudspeaker presets include equalization, high pass filters, and multi-stage limiters tailored to each model, ensuring consistent sound quality and full loudspeaker protection in every application. Additionally, each Community loudspeaker preset includes loudspeaker power and impedance information, allowing the system configuration software to display the total power and impedance of multiple parallel wired loudspeakers, further reducing the time and effort required to match complete loudspeaker systems with the appropriate ALC models and output channel configurations.

In-depth control and monitoring is accomplished via ArmoníaPlus® system manager software.
