24VDC auxiliary power recommendation

Wrench_Bld.png

Several Vocia PoE-powered devices have an optional DC auxiliary power connection. This note explains how to safely power them using a 24VDC power supply.

Pass-through DC voltage

The supplied current must match or exceed each device's required minimum necessary wattage. Underpowering will damage the power supply unit and is not safe!

In over current conditions, the device will only draw the required current. Excess current will be passed-through.

Always match the power supply unit (PSU) to the device's stated voltage requirement.

Biamp 24VDC power supply

283.0119.900 is the part number for the below power supply Biamp resells. It is rated for 2.5A @ 24VDC

The Vocia amplifiers' 24VDC auxiliary power requires more current and cannot use Biamp's 24VDC 2.5A power supply.

Auxiliary power requirements

If using a generic power supply unit with the following Vocia devices, ensure it is appropriately rated to avoid damaging the PSU.

  • GPIO-1 - 15W / 625mA
  • POTS-1 - 30W / 1.25A
  • VOIP-1 - 30W / 1.25A
  • VO-4e - 15W / 625mA
  • VI-8 - 35W / 1.45A
  • LSI-16/e - 15W / 625mA
