This article provides details of Vocia Software and Firmware revisions.

1.8.1

Released September 2020

Firmware only release, used with 1.8 software

Firmware Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an issue that caused audio distortion on VI-6 Line Input Channel 1 which happened intermittently after reboots.
  2. Resolved an issue that caused the VI-8 to reboot when a Control Handle input state toggled rapidly by shorting the control input pin to ground.

  1. Added FTPS support for transferring 3rd party audio files.

Updates

  1. Added support for disabling FTP transfers for 3rd party audio files.

  2. Added support for disabling the anonymous FTP user.

  3. Updated the Paging Station VTP Push-to-Talk ‘T’ command to support a new argument option ‘A’ that is used to reassert the PTT button without having to release it first.

  4. Added a new Paging Station VTP Set Page Options ‘C’ command to support a new argument option that allows infinite length live paging. This replaces the deprecated "O" command (used in FW versions prior to 1.8).

Firmware Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an issue that caused the VA-4300 and VA-8150 to fail to mute an output channel when entering the Emergency Mute state for a channel being actively paged to.

Software Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an issue that could cause the Vocia software installer to fail with Error 1311 on Windows 10 if no previous version of Vocia had been previously installed.

Firmware Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an extremely rare and intermittent issue in the Host to CobraNet interface of the VA-4300CV and VA-8150CV that could cause a CobraNet HMI timeout and subsequent device reboot.

Firmware Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an issue that could prevent schedule events from triggering on the correct time and date when the schedule event name contained more than 43 characters.
  2. Resolved an issue that could cause the RS-232 port of the MS-1(e) to become unresponsive when the device received new configuration.
  3. Resolved an issue that could, under rare circumstances, cause a page that does not end properly (because of, for example, a paging device losing power) to remain active indefinitely and never time out. The issue could also occur when making extremely rapid pages via a VI-8.
  4. Improved the robustness of VA-4300CV/VA-8150CV audio DMA handling to resolve several issues that could cause DMA related faults to be reported in the log.
  5. Resolved an issue that under extremely rare scenarios could cause the VA-4300CV/VA-8150CV to start-up and only play noise.
  6. Upgraded the CobraNet firmware to 2.11.14 on all devices that receive CobraNet audio (ANC-1, POTS-1, VoIP-1, VA-2060(e), VA-4030(e), VA-4300CV, VA-8150CV, VA-8600(e), VI-8, VO-4 and VO-4e) to address a bug that could in rare scenarios cause the CobraNet interface to become unresponsive. This resulted in the Vocia device rebooting automatically to recover.
  7. General improvements to the Host to CobraNet interface on the VoIP-1, POTS-1, VI-8, VA-4300CV and VA-8150CV to eliminate potential sources of CobraNet HMI timeouts.
  8. Resolved an issue that prevented an LSI-16(e) configured to trigger a PoE Power Supply alarm from reporting this alarm if the device never has the PoE power source connected.

  1. Resolved an issue that prevented MS-1(e) VoIP initiated Interworld pages from playing out in more than one remote World.
  2. Resolved an issue that prevented MS-1(e) VoIP initiated auto-repeating pages from continuing to repeat after 13 hours.
  3. Resolved an issue that could cause pages to timeout prematurely when pin codes are used on a paging station.
  4. Resolved an issue that could cause the audio storage memory on a paging station to become full and get overwritten when a large number of delayed release auto-repeat pages are made from a paging station.  This could result in audible glitches being heard during playback.
  5. Resolved an issue that could cause the VA-8150CV and VA-4300CV to intermittently report Power Supply Thermal alarms when not actually present
  6. Resolved an issue that was preventing some TTS voices from installing on the TTS-1(e)
  7. Resolved an issue that could cause a Short Circuit alarm to be reported at startup when not actually present on the VA-4300CV and VA-8150CV

Software Issues Addressed

  1. Resolved an issue that could cause an exception when the Device ID’s of two MS-1(e)’s were swapped and the user attempted to resolve the ID conflict automatically.
  2. Resolved an issue that could allow amplifiers in N:1 or device-to-device failover configuration to be configured for a mixture of emergency and non-emergency functions.
  3. Removed the toggle high options from the GPIO-1 for high range monitored inputs for Emergency Page Code, Emergency Zone Alarm and Emergency Zone Reset functions.
  4. Resolved an issue that could result in the pilot tone or impedance monitoring stimulus levels to be set at unsafe levels.
  5. Resolved several issues that could cause excessive memory usage when the Log Viewer was left open for an extended period of time with Live Update disabled.
  6. Resolved an issue that could cause a Live Control conflict when the ELD-1 device order was different on amplifiers configured for device-to-device failover.
  7. Resolved an issue that could cause the default voice for Nurse Call to be lost after a project was reopened.
  8. Resolved an issue that was preventing a configuration compilation from being required when the IP address of a MS-1(e) or TTS-1(e) was changed.

Issue/Corrections:

  1. Resolved an issue that could cause the TTS-1 to shut down intermittently.
  2. Resolved an issue that prevented the VA-8600, VA-2060(e), VA-4030(e), and VO-4e from tracking the status of more than 8 ELD-1s, which would cause speaker line alarms to be reported in error.
  3. Resolved an issue that, under certain circumstances, could cause the MS-1 to report zones as unavailable when an announcement was overridden as it was completing playback.
  4. Resolved an issue that, under certain circumstances, could cause the MS-1 to incorrectly log error messages when playing a large number of simultaneous announcements with different priorities to overlapping destination zones.
  5. Resolved an issue that could cause the flooding of MS-1 logs in circumstances when large VTP strings wereused in a control system.

New Products:

  1. Vocia VA-4300CV:

    The VA-4300CV is a 2RU, direct drive, constant voltage, Class D amplifier that provides 4 x 300W output channels.  It supports flexible line monitoring, comprehensive failover, extended audio delay, dual Ethernet ports, AC and dual DC operation and can form part of a Vocia emergency system.

  2. Vocia VA-8150CV:

    The VA-8150CV is a 2RU, direct drive, constant voltage, Class D amplifier that provides 8 x 150W output channels.  It supports flexible line monitoring, comprehensive failover, extended audio delay, dual Ethernet ports, AC and dual DC operation and can form part of a Vocia emergency system.

  3. Vocia PLD-1:

    The PLD-1 is a passive end of line monitoring device that can be used with the VA-8600 on non-branched speaker lines configured to drive 100-300W and up to 1.3km in length. 

  4. Vocia PLD-2:

    The PLD-2 is a passive end of line monitoring device that can be used with the VA-4300CV or VA-8150CV on non-branched speaker lines up to 1.3km in length.  

Software & Firmware

New Features:

  1. Longer Recorded Announcements

    Recorded announcements up to 30 minutes in duration are now supported in Vocia.

  2. Master-Slave LSI-16(e)

    Supports the Master-Slave fire system topologies found in medium to large installations that use distributed and/or networked fire systems.

  3. Live Interworld Paging

    Live Interworld pages can now be made live in up to 50 Worlds simultaneously in systems that use the MS-1e.  This feature leverages standard VoIP technology and offers configurable quality and bandwidth options.

Software Issues Addressed:

  1. Added fan speed and stuck rotor monitoring to the MS-1e and TTS-1e.
  2. Enhanced the IP Address Conflict dialog to allow the user to easily resolve the issue in the dialog.
  3. Resolved an issue that could cause an ELD-1 to report differently on each of the amplifiers in a device failover pair when the ELD-1 was offline.
  4. Improved the operation and management of DSP Crossover presets.
  5. Added support for copying preamble assignment between paging stations and the POTS-1 and VOIP-1.
  6. Resolved an issue that prevented configuring the secondary channel of a VO-4e in 1:1 failover from being reactivated when the corresponding fault input clears.
  7. Resolved a display issue in the nurse call trouble shooting interface.
  8. Resolved a grammar mistake in the device interrogation dialog.
  9. Resolved an issue that an un-configured TTS-1 didn't return the installed voices to the Vocia GUI's TTS-1 Voice Management window.
  10. Resolved an issue that was causing the case of the text in a Custom Text Element in a TTS-1 Nurse Call Sequence to be ignored.
  11. Updated a validation error message to show the paging priority when validating paging station preambles.
  12. Resolved an issue where the zone drop down in the world dialog wasn't displaying the "Zone Id" correctly.
  13. Resolved an issue where a status message and dialog box prompt could be shown multiple times when sending configuration.

  1. Vocia VI-8: The VI-8 provides 8 channels of instant-on paging for interfacing with Tesira/Audia and third party interfaces such as fire panels or legacy paging systems. The VI-8 supports VoX or Control Input triggered paging and up to 9 general purpose Control Inputs and 1 general purpose Control Output. The VI-8 supports monitoring of the Vocia emergency system status using the Status Output. Up to 3 VI-8 units can be daisy chained for summary fault monitoring by third party systems.

  1. Smart Reconfiguration - Only the devices that are impacted by a configuration change will need to reconfigure after a configuration change is sent to the system. This allows the user to change certain elements of the configuration of their system without stopping the audio in their system. This also included streamlining the Send Configuration and Extract Configuration processes.

New Products

  1. Vocia VA-2060 & VA-4030: The VA-2060 and VA-4030 are two small amplifiers that offer the same feature set as the VA-8600 in a smaller package, with fewer channels and less power per channel than the VA-8600. They also offer N:1 failover and Page Active Relay (PARM) support without the need for a plug-in module.

  2. Vocia VA-2060e & VA-4030e: The VA-2060e and VA-4030e provide the same feature set as the VA-2060 and VA-4030, but also support 24V auxiliary power and local analog inputs.

  3. Vocia VFOM-1: The VFOM-1 is an option module that provides 2 x 3:1 or 7: 1 failover capability for the VA-8600.

  4. Vocia LSI-16e: The LSI-16e is an LSI-16 with an IM-16 expansion board fitted. This provides an additional 16 physical alarm/fault inputs to the LSI-16.

New Features

  1. Enhanced E-mail Notification - MS-1 E-mail Notification has been expanded to support additional sources of notification, and has been enhanced to support filtering of notification sources. E-mail content has been simplified and supports an optional attachment in CSV format.

  2. Additional VoIP Routes for the MS-1 - The MS-1 now supports connection to more than one VoIP network via the use of one or more external gateways.

  3. System Mute - It is now possible to mute an entire World in a Vocia system via a Control Input on a VO-4 or VI-6.

  4. Alarm Categorisation and Enhanced Alarm Display - All alarms in Vocia have been categorized into one of three categories (Minor, Major and Critical). Additional information has been added to the Vocia software and Help File to explain what each of these alarms means in a way that is easy to understand for the end user. A tool-tip above each alarm explains in simple terms what the alarm means

  5. Additional Audio Files for VTP - Vocia now supports up to 10,000 audio files (a maximum duration of 10 hours) specifically for use via a third party controller using VTP.

New Features

  1. Paging station VTP interface - The Aux Port, located on all Vocia paging stations next to the network connector allows connection of a third party control systems via RS-232. It provides access to all standard paging control functions and allows users to select paging destinations on-the-fly.

  2. LSI-16e added more emergency inputs - The existing Life Safety Interface was enhanced (LSI-16e) and now offers 16 additional inputs to the existing 4 emergency connections. The new inputs can be used for emergency zones or multiple emergency messages per zone (for example, alert, evacuation, all-clear).

  3. LSI-16 / LSI-16e now support RS-232 control and Virtual Inputs- The RS-232 port on the LSI-16 and LSI-16e is now operational. Can be used to trigger up to 500 virtual inputs (50 zones with 10 emergency messages/reset each). This connection can also be used for system health monitoring by a third party controller.

  4. MS-1 E-mail notification - E-mail notification allows you to monitor system health on-the-go. Subscribe to e-mail notification to receive alerts when there is any alarm in the system (for example, devices go offline, system fault is detected, or a disruption in the signal path be it in the microphone capsule or the speaker line).

  5. Improved ELD-1 identification - Can now specify a location name and the system will indicate which of the up to 15 ELD-1s connected to an amplifier channel have detected a fault in the system.

  6. Additional VTP commands for MS-1 and TTS-1 - Expanded third party control with additional Vocia Text Protocol (VTP) commands. For example, trigger an existing page code via VTP, adjust volume, background source or mute in a zone via VTP, create and trigger custom Text-to-Speech sequences via VTP.

  7. MS-1 adds VTP Audio Files - It will now be possible to specify a group of Recorded Announcement Audio Files to be sent to the MS-1 strictly for the purpose of being used by a 3rd Party Control system via VTP (previously you needed to assign them to a Page Code). A MS-1 will support up to 10 hours of audio to be assigned solely for VTP.

  8. MS-1 VoIP supports additional Codec's - G.722 and GSM Codec's now supported.

  9. TTS-1 - Voice engine update to allow support for additional Voices.

  1. Support for new TTS-1 - The TTS-1 is configured like any other device in the Vocia system.

  2. Simplified network connection - CobraNet connectivity is now only used in the absence of an MS-1. This is also communicated to the user graphically with a separate icon for each connection method.

  3. MS-1 Device Maintenance Tool - The MS-1 Device Maintenance Tool allows the user to discover the IP address of an MS-1 if it is not known, set the IP of an MS-1 or reset the IP of a unit to factory default, all via a CobraNet connection.

  4. ELD-1 Fault Triggers Failover option for VA-8600 - The VA-8600 can now be configured such that a fault detected by the ELD-1 triggers failover.

  5. Page Active Relay functionality for VO-4 - PARM functionality can now be configured on the VO-4.

  6. CobraNet Background Inputs -Vocia now supports background music inputs via CobraNet to facilitate interoperability.

  7. CobraNet Output from a VO-4 -Vocia now supports digital audio output via CobraNet from a VO-4 to facilitate interoperability with external systems.

  8. EN-54 support -Vocia now has an EN-54 user to support EN-54 Access Level 3 in order to meet the requirement of EN-54.

  9. Reset / Initializing of MS-1 and TTS-1- Vocia now allows an MS-1 or TTS-1 to be Reset/Initialized. This will remove all configuration and logging from the unit.

  10. 64-Bit OS Support -Vocia has been updated to run on 64-Bit Windows.

  11. Simultaneous Paging Count Computation -Vocia will now compute and display the Simultaneous Paging Limit for a World based it’s configuration. This offers more flexibility than the previously fixed limit of 4 VI-6’s. It also allows the system to support additional Background Audio Sources at the expense of Paging capacity.

  12. ANC-1 Metering has been re-vamped to make it simpler to configure -Additional metering has been provided in order to improve the workflow of ANC configuration.

  13. Discovered MS-1/TTS-1’s are imported with their IP address - MS-1 or TTS-1 units discovered via CobraNet will imported into the project with their IP address setting pre-populated.

  14. The time in the World is now shown in the Main Tree - The time in a World is now shown in the Main Tree to see the current World time when configuring the schedule.

  15. Progress information is shown when opening projects - Progress information is now shown when opening a Project. This is particularly useful when opening large systems.
