Wiring inputs and outputs in Tesira
With the many I/O options available to the Tesira family and the multitude of wiring formats and schemes used in the industry, it can be difficult to remember how to wire certain things for proper operation. This article shows the most typical wiring schemes used with BiampTesira hardware.
Always ensure that the Euroblock screw connectors are snugly tightened onto properly trimmed bare wire leads. Terminal screws should not be crimping down on the insulation as this will prevent a proper electrical connection with the bare wire. Trim any loose wire strands or re-terminate the wire to address them. Do not allow any stray wire strands to connect with a neighboring wires as this cause an electrical short between the wires. To avoid accidental shorts no bare wire should be left exposed outside of the Euroblock connector.
Inputs
Note: Input wiring schemes apply to both Mic/Line inputs and AEC inputs in servers and expander devices
Balanced Mic/Line Input
Unbalanced Line Input
Stereo Unbalanced Line Input
Note: For this wiring scheme, two input channels are required; one for the right channel signal and one for the left channel signal.
Outputs
Balanced Line Output
Unbalanced Line Output
For unbalanced connections the Biamp default output level of 24dBu may be too high. Lowering the output level in the Output block will allow you to avoid overdriving the input of the next device.
Unbalanced Line Out (2 channels) to "Stereo" TRS connection
For unbalanced connections the Biamp default output level of 24dBu may be too high. Lowering the output level in the Output block will allow you to avoid overdriving the input of the next device.
Amplifier outputs
Tesira A460H
Single channel per speaker output for 4-ohm or 8-ohm speakers.
Bridged-mono speaker output for 4-ohm or 8-ohm speakers.
Bridge-mono for 70/100V speakers.
Note: this mode requires engaging the High Pass Filter (HPF) in the back of the amplifier
Tesira AVB Amplifiers
Standard wiring each channel
Bridge mode wiring. Note: XEL1200.x amplifiers cannot be bridged, as each output is already a bridged pair internally.
Tesira AMP-450BP and TCM-XA to standard speaker Euroblock connection
Note: The C-IC6, AMP-450BP and TCM-XA utilize pins 1,2,3, and 6 for speaker (+) and pins 4,5,7, and 8 for speaker (-). Please note that there is no designation or recommendation made regarding the type of CAT cable to use outside of wire gauge. Shielded cable is NOT required.
Wiring can utilize Biamp's CCA adapter, or field terminated CAT5 connections as shown.
Connectors
Most Biamp products use 0.2" (5.08mm) pitch Phoenix or euro-block connections for most audio inputs and outputs.
TesiraFORTÉ X uses female 3-pole 0.15" (3.81mm) pitch block connectors for inputs and outputs.
