Making a test call

Once your Tesira device is setup to process the audio from you conferencing application of choice, you may want to perform a test call to ensure sound levels are set properly and overall quality is acceptable.

Teams

  1. Open the Teams desktop application.
  2. Navigate to the menu button on the top right of the Window.
  3. Click on the Settings button (accompanied by a small cog icon).
  4. Find the Devices tab from the menu on the left side of the settings Window (accompanied by a headset icon).
  5. Select the Make a Test Call button below the speaker and microphone setup.
  6. The test call will start as a normally one would, you’ll be able to test incoming call quality from the recorded voice instructing you through the test call, and outgoing quality by recording a short test sample of your voice or other near end audio.
  7. Once the call ends, you’ll be given a simple report on the status of your audio device, webcam and network strength. Issues can be addressed by accessing the Show Device Settings button that will bring you back to the previous menu you launched the call from.

Zoom

Zoom doesn’t have the same kind of test call feature that Teams, but there are still tools in the software to test call quality.

  1. With Zoom open or running, Navigate down to the Icon tray in the windows Task bar.
  2. Right click the Zoom icon and select Settings from the from down menu.
  3. From the Settings window, select the Audio tab (accompanied by a headphone icon).
  4. In the Speaker section, Select the Test Speaker button to play short jingle, the audio will loop to allow you to address potential issues without repeatedly selecting the option, but will need to be stopped manually once the desired quality is reached.
  5. In the Microphone section, select the Test microphone to create a short recording of your voice or other near side audio to assess microphone quality.
