RFID: How to Create NFC cards and RFID tags
Overview
NFC cards are used by the organization's Users to book, check into, or extend meetings in bookable spaces that have RFID or RFID/PIN identification requirements enabled for those actions.
Required applications and hardware for setting up NFC cards
Booking mobile app: The card creation process is performed, in part, using the Biamp Workplace Booking mobile app.
- The app must be loaded on an NFC-capable phone
- NFC scanning must be enabled on the phone
- Scanning a blank NFC associates it with the Owner, Org Admin, or User signed in on the app, and with the Workplace Organization currently selected in the app.
Clean NFC Cards: The NFC cards must be clean (no data loaded) in order to assign them to a Workplace organization and member.
Workflow considerations
- In most cases, you will want to create NFC cards for the organization's users before enabling RFID requirements.
Workflow overview
- The Owner or Organization Admins provides approved, blank NFC cards to organization members who will be using RFID identification with desk or room booking devices.
- The User opens the Biamp Workplace Booking mobile app on their phone and selects the Workplace organization they will be creating the card for.
- The User scans the card using their phone with the Booking app on it.
- The card is now associated with the User in that organization.
- A User can have cards associated with them in each organization they are a member in.
- The user enters a name for the card in the Booking app and saves it.
- The user can now tap the card on booking devices requiring RFID identification to use.
Procedure
This procedure assumes an admin will be working with an end-user who has the Biamp Workplace Booking mobile app loaded on their NFC-capable phone. This approach automatically associates a user with the card being configured for use as a Workspace digital identification method.
Before starting, have the user you are creating the card for open the Biamp Workplace Booking app on their phone. They must be signed into the app for this procedure to work.
1. Go to the user's profile by tapping the profile icon on the top right of the "Today" calendar screen. Then tap the radio button of the organization you will be creating the card for.
- Note: The card will only work for the currently selected organization. The card will only work for the user who is currently signed into the Booking app.
2. Scroll to the Utilities section and tap the "My cards option".
3. Tap Add new Card.
4. Scan the card by holding it near the phone.
- A checkmark icon will indicate the card has been successfully scanned and with the currently selected organization.
- The card is not ready for use. Please see the next steps.
5. Enter a name for the card and tap "Save card". Note the name for entering it in a future step in this process.
The User's card will now unlock RFID-required booking actions in this organization.
