Enabling 802.1x authentication

This article explains how to enable 802.1x authentication on Evoko Home and Liso.

Preparation

  • Make sure Evoko Home and all Liso devices are running software/firmware v2.4 or higher.
    • We recommend that the Lisos are on the same version number as Evoko Home.
  • The Lisos should be connected to Evoko Home on an unmanaged (non-802.1x) switch port.

Enabling 802.1x in Evoko Home

From the Authentication section of the Global Settings page on Evoko Home, enable 802.1x authentication.

Authenticating Liso devices

Repeat these steps for every Liso that requires authentication:

  1. From the Monitoring section of the Rooms page on Evoko Home, click on the room name of the Liso you would like to configure.
  2. In the Device tab, click Request CSR from Liso and fill in the details of the form.
    • This creates a new private key on the Liso, and will invalidate any previously-generated certificates
  3. Once the CSR has been generated click the Download CSR button.
  4. Use the CSR to generate a certificate for the device using your CA.
    • The certificates need to be PEM-formatted, base64-encoded x509 certificates.
  5. Download and save the file wpa_supplicant.conf. If needed, make any necessary changes to this file according to the requirements of your environment.
  6. Click the Browse buttons to upload the Root certificate (.crt), approved Liso certificate (.crt), and wpa supplicant file to Evoko Home.
  7. Click the Send Certificate to Liso button to upload the files to the Liso device.
  8. After the upload is completed, move the Liso to a port on the managed (802.1x) network and powercycle it.
