Unable to route TesiraFORTÉ X in Dante Controller

Wrench_Bld.png

Problem description

An out-of-the-box or factory defaulted TesiraFORTÉ X will be in "dedicated control and media" port mode, with both control and media interfaces set to DHCP. Without the presence of a DHCP server, all interfaces will resolve an APIPA "link-local" address. While this is an acceptable configuration with which to begin programming the device via Tesira software on port 1, Dante communication is suppressed on the media ports (2-5) while port 1 is connected to a different broadcast domain.

In this scenario, the device is visible in Dante Controller, but not programmable.

Solutions

The solution ultimately depends on your network topology requirement.

Dedicated mode (separated control and media networks)

If separated control and media networks are required, adhere to the rules described in the port modes article, and assign the control and Dante interfaces into different IP subnets.

The TesiraFORTÉ X will now be discoverable via any media port (2-5) in Dante Controller.

Converged ("single cable") mode

If a converged network is required, set the port mode to Converged Control. In this configuration, the control and Dante addresses may be in the same or a different subnet.

The TesiraFORTÉ X is now discoverable via any port (1-5) in Dante Controller.
